The Joint Military Council for Education Excellence was established as a partnership between the Escambia County School District and Naval Air Station Pensacola in the Spring of 2020. Its mission is: Improving educational services and communication between the Escambia County School District and military families.
The Military Council convenes quarterly to address topics of mutual interest and to solicit input from community stakeholders, including military families.
Medal of Honor Recipient Takes Note of BELLVIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL Students' Actions

Teachers and students were humbled and elated to receive word that a class project to honor our nation's veterans received recognition from one of only two living World War II Medal of Honor recipients--Chief Warrant Officer (Ret.) Hershel "Woody" Williams.
Details of this story were discussed at the March 4, 2021 Military Council meeting. This heart-felt email thread between Woody and Bellview Middle School staff recounts the impact that BMS students had on him while he paid a visit to Pensacola's Veterans Memorial Park in November, 2020.
