    Dolphin Dollar Reward System

    The Dolphin Dollar is the school-wide token that is given to a student when he or she exemplifies the school-wide expectations.

    Receiving Dolphin Dollars:

    • Each teacher has Dolphin Dollars (paper tokens) to be given out to students.
    • Dolphin Dollars and rewards purchased with them will not be taken away from students once they have been earned.

    Prompting Expected Behavior

    Students may need additional assistance in order to display an appropriate behavior. Therefore a teacher may

    • Acknowledge the student immediately after the desired behavior is exhibited
    • Provide a reminder of the desired behavior within the context of the lesson (For example, "Who can raise their hand and tell me...")
    • Use corrective procedures:
      • For the first occurrence of the inappropriate behavior a teacher may ignore it
      • For the second occurrence of the inappropriate behavior the teacher may use a two-part signal to correct the behavior (For example, when a teacher places a finger on his or her lips to signal quiet while raising a hand to model the appropriate behavior.)
      • For the third occurrence present a warning of the target behavior as a choice (For example, "If you have a comment or question, you need to raise your hand. If you choose to speak out, you will lose 5 minutes of free time.")

    Positive Behavior Support

    Positive Behavior Support (PBS) has been implemented school wide at Holm Elementary. To promote desired student behavior, teachers at Holm 

    • Communicate high and positive expectations
    • Have more positive than negative interactions
    • Catch problem behavior before it becomes more severe
    • Provide high rates of positive reinforcement

    All students are expected to engage in appropriate behavior. Rules, positive reinforcement, and interventions for rule violations are the same for all students at all times.

    • Stay in the appropriate areas
    • Obey game rules

    In the classroom:

    • Praise others for good deeds
    • Learn new things with a positive attiyude
    • Be the best you can be
    • Be a team player
    • Don't give up

    In the Hallway:
