• Important Ceremony Information

    What: 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

    When: May 21st at 10:00 a.m.

    Doors Open to Parents: 9:45 a.m.

    Where: WMS Gymnasium

    *Participation in the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony is contingent upon meeting all the middle school requirements for promotion.

    Frequently asked questions:

    Q: Is my student required to attend the ceremony practices?

    A: If your student has met all requirements to participate, they must be in attendance for practice on 5/17 and 5/20. 

     

    Q: Does my student need to attend school the morning of the ceremony?

    A: Yes, they will need to arrive as usual to prepare for the ceremony. 

     

    Q: Can I check my student out after the ceremony?

    A: Yes! Please check the check-out procedures below and ensure you return the Fast Checkout Form for a speedy process.

     

    Q: Where should I park?

    A: Park by the gymnasium. You can access additional parking in the field area by turning by the Six Brothers Convenience Store. 

     

    Q: What should my student wear?

    A: Ceremony-appropriate attire in some combination of black and white.

     

     

    Ceremony Check-Out Procedures:

     

    There are two options for checkouts:

    1. Fast Check-Out (Highly Encouraged):

      • Forms will be sent home on Monday, May 13th.
      • Forms MUST be returned by Wednesday, May 15th. 
      • Parents/guardians and students MUST be wearing the same wristband. 
      • Parent wristbands will be sent home on Monday, May 20th. Any lost wristbands will result in using the General Checkout Procedure.
      • Parents with fast check-out wristbands are advised to remain seated in the gym after the students exit the ceremony.
      • Wristbanded students will return to the gym and will be called by number for checkout. Please stop by the foyer exit door to verify parent/student wristbands with a teacher.

    2. General Check-Out:

      • If you don't have a fast check-out wristband, please exit to the foyer after the students have exited the ceremony and follow the signs to the multipurpose room.
      • Your student will return to their classroom. We will call your student once your ID has been verified. The person checking out MUST be listed in Focus.

     

    Important Information:

    • Parent wristbands will be distributed to students to take home on 5/20 during ceremony practice.
    • Student wristbands will be provided on the morning of the ceremony.
    • All students will exit through the foyer; only those with wristbands will loop around to re-enter through the back door.
    • Students without wristbands or those who have lost them MUST return to their classroom but can still utilize the general checkout process. 
    • If opting for general checkout, students will return to their classrooms and will be called to return to the gym once parent IDs have been verified.
