• Physically and Visually Impaired and Occupational and Physical Therapy

  • Physically Impaired

    The Program for Physically Impaired (PI) serves students who have been diagnosed with a physically disabling condition or other health impairment.  A medical report from a licensed physician is required to determine eligibility.  Settings include self-contained classrooms, varying exceptionality models and inclusion models in various schools.  Mulit-handicapped students are served in classes that meet their special needs and functioning levels.

    Visually Impaired

    The Program for Visually Impaired (VI) serves both blind and low vision students. Students ages birth to three years are served in an early intervention home program. Pre-school and school-age students who are blind or low vision are served in schools, day cares, or the home by itinerant vision teachers.  Orientation and Mobility is provided to blind and low vision students to enable safe and independent travel.

    Occupational Therapy

    Occupational Therapy (OT) is a related program service that provides screenings, evaluations, and therapy.  School-based OT is designed to enhance the student's ability to fully access and succeed in the learning environment.  OT services may include (but are not limited to) fine motor, organizational, self-help, and social skills. Services are provided in all public schools.

    Physical Therapy

    Physical Therapy (PT) is a related program service that provides screenings, evaluations, and therapy.  School-based PT is designed to enhance the student's functional mobility, access, and participation in the learning environment. Services are provided in all public schools. A Florida PT Prescription is required for services.
