• Who Are Military & Family Life Counselors and What Do They Do?

    Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) Military & Family Life Counselors (MFLC) are:

    • Masters or Doctorate level licensed counselors specializing in child and youth behavioral issues
    • Available at no cost to assist children, parents, and staff
    • Available to provide short-term, non-medical counseling

    Our on campus Military & Family Life Counselor is available to offer a wide range of support to military families to include, but not limited to:

    • Improving social skills and maintaining friendships
    • Modeling behavioral techniques
    • Adapting to relocation
    • Deployment and separation
    • Reunion adjustment
    • Sibling and parent-child communication
    • Coping with changes in family dynamics
    • Managing anger
    • Building self-esteem, confidence and leadership skills
    • Counseling for fear, grief, and loss
    • Facilitating peer groups
    • Being available to parents and staff to discuss concerns and provide resources

    All services are private and confidential with the exception of child abuse, neglect, domestic abuse, and other duty-to-warn situations.

    Take A Vet To School
    We welcome all military parents, family, and community members to join us on this day as we honor our veterans with a parade and program.
     
    Wreaths Across America
    Our K-Kids volunteer each year to place Christmas Wreaths at Barrancas National Cemetery.
     
    Month of the Military Child
    A month filled with special events and activities to recognize military families and students.
     
    Purple Up Day
    The day we honor and recognize our school friends who are part of a military family.
     
    Welcome Thursdays
    Each week, we recognize and welcome new friends to Blue Angels Elementary on the Jet Morning News. Our Anchored for Life Crew members present a goody bag and give them a tour of the school.

    ECPS and NASP Joint Military Council for Education Excellence

    The Joint Military Council for Education Excellence was established as a partnership between the Escambia County School District and Naval Air Station Pensacola in the Spring of 2020. Its mission is: Improving educational services and communication between the Escambia County School District and military families.

    The Military Council convenes quarterly to address topics of mutual interest and to solicit input from community stakeholders, including military families.

The site also has a link to a tutoring service designed specifically for military students as well as an MFLC locator so that families can look for MFLCs where they currently reside or are PCSing to.     The Military Interstate Children's Compact Commission has a specific section for parents with resources detailing the role of the School Liaison as well as helpful articles on helping military children change schools and cope with moving, among others. They also have a section on supporting military families with special medical or educational needs.
