What are the advantages and differences in attending WFHS?
In addition to all academic course requirements for high school graduation, WFHS students are enrolled in a career academy in one of 12 career areas (see Career Programs and Academies brochures). If career academy course work is successfully completed, a certificate of mastery is awarded. Blending academics with technical education helps students develop skills in math, communications, science, technology, etc. Career program courses will also help prepare students to achieve industry certification in their career fields. WFHS students are also given the opportunity to achieve the Florida Ready to Work credential. This credential proves that the student has the fundamental skills needed to succeed on the job. In addition, many of the career programs now offer industry certification exams to students. Capstone is a unique opportunity that WFHS students complete in their junior year. Capstone provides students with the opportunity to show mastery of skills learned in their career programs, demonstrating their strengths in writing, research, time management, budgeting, and oral communication. Additional information may be obtained at wwwf.wfhs.net.
