Pre-K Summer Bridge Program

  • Escambia County Public Schools offers a free Pre-K Summer Bridge Program for eligible VPK students living in Escambia County to help students get ready for kindergarten by providing additional instructional support emphasizing foundational early literacy skills.

    Who Qualifies?

    Current VPK students who scored below the 10th percentile on FAST Star Early Literacy Assessment PM3, could not complete the practice items, or could not complete the assessment because it is inappropriate for their needs (e.g., child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) requires paper-based testing, a non-English speaking child). Students must reside in Escambia County.

    When and Where is the Program?
    Monday - Thursday, June 2nd - July 15th, 2025 (Holiday on June 19th)

    How Do I Register My Child?

    Step 1: Complete an Escambia County School District online application in FOCUS at https://www.escambiaschools.org/Page/763 if your child is not currently enrolled.

    Step 2: The parent or legal guardian brings the following documents to Spencer Bibbs Center at 2005 N. 6th Avenue to complete registration.
    Monday-Thursday, 8:00am - 3:00pm.

    Documents required:

    • FAST Star Early Literacy Parent Report (from your child's VPK teacher)
    • Birth Certificate
    • Proof of Residence (utility bill within 60 days or current lease)
    • Immunization Record (up to date)
    • Physical (or appointment card for upcoming physical)
    • Parent ID

    Additional Information

    • Transportation will not be provided for this program.
    • All students present will receive a free breakfast and lunch.
    • Students are also eligible to receive free books and reading activities.
